Building ventilation methods are divided into mechanical/forced and natural types.

The meaning of R in the more complete term HVAC/R refers to refrigeration. Refrigeration is the reduction of the temperature of a material or space for various purposes such as domestic and store refrigerators, cold stores, cryogenic systems, etc.
