What is HVAC?

What is HVAC?

In general terms, HVAC system means air conditioning system. Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning is the use of different technologies to control the temperature, humidity, and air purity in a closed space. The purpose of this system is to provide thermal comfort and acceptable indoor air quality. HVAC system design is one of the sub-branches of mechanical engineering which is based on the principles of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.

Air conditioning is an important part of residential buildings such as villas, apartment buildings, hotels, and nursing homes. Others are medium to large industrial and office buildings such as skyscrapers and hospitals, vehicles such as cars, trains, airplanes, ships, and submarines. In these places safe and healthy building conditions are adjusted according to the temperature and humidity by using fresh air from outside. they are actually equipped with HVAC system.

Ventilation is the process of exchanging or replacing air in any space to provide high quality indoor air, which includes temperature control, oxygen injection and control of humidity, odor, smoke, heat and air dust, bacteria, carbon dioxide and other gases. Ventilation removes unpleasant odors and excessive humidity, brings in outside air, keeps indoor air circulating and prevents indoor air stagnation.  Building ventilation methods are divided into mechanical/forced and natural types.

What is an HVAC/R system?

The meaning of R in the more complete term HVAC/R refers to refrigeration. Refrigeration is the reduction of the temperature of a material or space for various purposes such as domestic and store refrigerators, cold stores, cryogenic systems, etc.
